Overview

Butter Kaya Kopitiam located in MyTOWN Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur, brings a fresh and inviting interpretation of traditional Malaysian kopitiam fare. Nestled conveniently in the bustling Cheras area, this eatery blends the charm of a classic kopitiam with modern touches, making it an ideal spot for breakfast or a casual meal.

The brand’s signature lies in its buttery kaya toast—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and lavishly spread with rich butter and aromatic pandan kaya. This simple yet perfected offering embodies the authentic local flavors while showcasing meticulous attention to texture and balance. Complementing the toast are their renditions of nasi lemak and curry mee, reflecting deep-rooted Malay culinary traditions infused with contemporary flair. The nasi lemak is a satisfying comfort dish, featuring options like sambal sotong and rendang beef, though some diners find the sambal portion conservative. On the other hand, the curry mee stands out with its creamy, fragrant broth and generous seafood or chicken toppings, delivering a rich and hearty experience.

Beyond main dishes, Butter Kaya Kopitiam also excels in beverages and desserts. The Rose Bandung paired with soft cincao offers a refreshing floral sweetness, while the gula melaka cendol with red beans and cincao is a delightful cold treat perfect for tropical heat. The kopi here is robust and aromatic, crafted to please those with a penchant for well-balanced Malaysian coffee.

Ambiance-wise, the restaurant balances a lively atmosphere with a comfortable setting. While some new visitors may initially find the vibe energetic, the space caters well to both solo diners and groups seeking an authentic kopitiam experience without compromising on quality or presentation. Butter Kaya Kopitiam draws a diverse crowd—from office workers and families to food enthusiasts eager to explore local classics elevated with thoughtful execution. Their menu diversity makes it easy for patrons to experiment beyond traditional dishes, with indulgent options like lava egg chicken floss buns and cheesy omurice adding playful twists to familiar flavors.

First time trying this restaurant, and the food quality was not bad. The roti bakar was really good, with a generous amount of butter spread on it. The nasi lemak, however, was just average, and the sambal portion was a little too small.

The butter kaya toast is really good — crispy on the outside, soft inside. Their curry mee is a highlight too, with rich, lemak broth, fragrant spices, and generous toppings. Kopi is strong and aromatic, just the way it should be. Food comes out fast, portions are satisfying, and prices are reasonable. Comfortable place for breakfast or a casual meal. Yet to rry their roti john. Variety of choices to select.

At first, I was a bit afraid to try and enter the restaurant because the vibe felt overwhelming. But after trying several menu items, the food turned out to be really good and satisfying. The presentation was appetizing, service was okay, and the price was affordable. Definitely worth trying.

Love the food, like their food presentation similar to the photos shown on their menu. Tasty. I had the lava egg chicken floss bun and cheesy omurice. I kind of wish there there are one half boiled egg added to the bun, so that I can have more runny egg as sauce for my bun to dip on.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and its price. I especially loved the pandan kaya lava bun which was such a delight and the best way to end the meal. The saltiness from the butter really elevated the flavour and pairs so well with the pandan. The golden fish bites were very fresh and not jelak at all. As for the dry pan mee, I wish I ordered cili because it’s just rm1 extra for cili and egg. The tea is also really delicious and not sickeningly sweet like other places.

The restaurant serve a very delicious lunch set that is very affordable and nice. I like the kam heong rice. It's very flavorful and delicious. The two others dishes were nasi lemak rendang and chicken chops rice. Both are good especially the nasi lemak sambal. No wonder the restaurant always full during the weekend. Loves it!

I always come to Butter Kaya MyTown Mall for my lunch almost every day, and I honestly never get bored of it. The food is really good, affordable, and always satisfying. I would like to give a special appreciation to the staff, especially the girl in the black hijab (in the picture ) and Ms Chaw Chaw (in the picture ). They served me so nicely and warmly. Today, they kindly explained everything about Yellow Day and all the promotions in detail, just like they always do. Their friendliness and genuine gestures really shocked me in the best way possible. The staff here are very friendly, helpful, and make customers feel comfortable and welcome every time. It’s one of the reasons I keep coming back. I truly hope the management sees this because these two staff members are a real asset to the Butter Kaya team. Thank you so much Butter Kaya team for the great food and wonderful service
